Seven Criminal Justice are urgently seeking a Domestic Abuse Specialist Practitioner for an initial 4-6 month contract, likely to become ongoing for the right person. The hourly rate is competitive paid LTD or Umbrella

The role full time 37.5 with lots of flexibility to work from home predominantly. You are expected to visit the office from time to time in North West London, Barnet, Brent and Enfield.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Groupwork delivery:

  • Deliver a wide range of interventions which include group work, one to ones, embedding in a multi-agency approach to domestic abuse in the area.
  • Ensure delivery is in accordance with tasks outlined in the Domestic Abuse Perpetrator manual and process mapping.
  • Adhere to relevant group work programme manuals and deliver programme sessions to ensure the integrity of programme delivery, which is overseen by the Senior Practitioner.
  • Be responsible and accountable for working with Senior Practitioner and Service Manager to ensure risk is reviewed on a weekly basis.
  • Practitioners will comply with the appropriate audit standards when working with perpetrators in line with RESPECT or HMPPS’s requirements.
  • Use motivational interviewing techniques and strength based approaches in building a range of therapeutic skills to engage with service users to address their abusive behaviour.
  • Encourage and facilitate learning with participants on a group, including proactively working to elicit behavioural change and acceptance of their behaviour towards their partner, or ex- partner.
  • Work closely with other professionals to ensure appropriate steps are taken to protect where there is an imminent risk to another person. Apply escalation procedures.
  • Be personally accountable for the completion of assessments, mid-way reports, and End of Intervention reports, and ensure they are to a high standard.
  • Provide support and consultancy to other professionals to ensure appropriateness of referrals and improve understanding on domestic abuse.
  • Ensure effective planning for the delivery of each intervention with a co-practitioner (if groupwork) in advance of the session.
  • Participate in and pass the necessary training in order to be able to deliver all interventions.
  • Assist or lead on the delivery of training courses.

One-to-one delivery:

  • Create and maintain an effective partnership working with statutory, private and voluntary agencies to address the issue of domestic abuse.
  • Ensure delivery of specific 1-2-1 programme is in accordance with tasks outlined in the “s Domestic Abuse perpetrator manual and process mapping.
  • Apply motivational intervention techniques to support service users to engage with other interventions if deemed appropriate.
  • Where appropriate, apply pre-session motivational work prior to attendance on a groupwork intervention.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: IDVA or Domestic Violence trained
  • Experience: DV Practitioner experience
  • Hours: Flexible hours Mon – Fri 9-5
