Seven Education is currently looking for an experienced and qualified (QTS) Science Teacher, to work in an established Secondary Special School with PRU Provision for students with SEMH needs in Camden, London. The role is to start on a temporary basis but could potentially become a permanent role given to the right candidate. The ideal candidate MUST have QTS, along with up to date subject knowledge with experience teaching primary or secondary Science up to KS4. Students at this school have SEMH as their primary need, however many students have additional needs in cognition and learning, communications and interactions. Experience using Nurture approaches, class intervention and learning support is desirable.

The role:

You will be expected to take the correct approach in supporting Children with SEMH needs teaching Science.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and deliver lessons to pupils.
  • Mark work give appropriate feedback and maintain records of pupils’ progress and development.
  • Research new topic areas, maintaining up-to-date subject knowledge, and devise and write new curriculum materials as required
  • Able to follow National Curriculum and use of Pearson’s Exploring Science at KS3 and BTEC Applied Science course to level 1 for year 11.
  • Select and use a range of different learning resources and equipment.
  • Undertake pastoral duties such as supporting pupils on an individual basis through academic or personal difficulties.
  • Communicate with parents and carers over pupils’ progress and participate in departmental meetings, parents’ evenings and whole-school training events.
  • Liaise with other professionals when required, such as learning mentors, careers advisers, educational psychologists and education welfare officers.
  • Supervise and support the work of teaching assistants.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) with Science specialism.
  • Experience: Up to date subject knowledge of national curriculum, Pearson’s Exploring Science and BTEC Applied Science.
  • Compliance: Proof of ability to work and live in the UK and Enhance DBS check.
  • Travel: Camden, London.
  • Hours: Full time.
  • Pay: £133.76 per day – Umbrella pay
