Seven Healthcare is looking for an Occupational Therapist to fill an exclusive opportunity in a hospital located in Guernsey.
To work as part of the multi-disciplinary team within the paediatric setting of HSSD, Children & Young People’s Services.
To manage a defined caseload, using evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
To maintain clinical records.
To participate in service development and evaluation of OT within Children & Young People’s Services Directorate as appropriate.
Specialist knowledge and experience
Knowledge and understanding of application of the OT process, including assessments and interventions relevant to paediatrics.
The ability to contribute the specialist skills of an OT to the multi-disciplinary team (MDT).
An understanding of OT outcome measures.
To maintain professional standards and behaviour as specified by the Professional Standards for Occupational Therapy Practice 2007 and in accordance with local policies and legislation.
To adhere to and apply the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct for Occupational Therapists.
To work independently of others, managing a defined client group.
To carry out and record comprehensive assessment and treatment intervention as per legal and professional guidelines and standards and in accordance with local policy.
To formulate and deliver specific Paediatric Occupational Therapy treatment programmes using evidence based practice and skilled clinical reasoning.
To use effective communication, reasoning and negotiation skills when working with patients and their carers and as part of the OT team and the multi-disciplinary team (MDT).
To work with the patient, their carer and the MDT to set agreed realistic goals, actions and outcomes.
To provide support, guidance, teaching and clinical supervision to OT Assistants and students.
To actively participate in supervision and appraisal, using reflection and analysis to inform practice and identify training needs as required by the Health Care Professions Council.
To maintain and develop professional knowledge and be conversant with professional developments, evidencing critical appraisal skills and Continuing Professional Development and sound understanding of governance.
To develop and maintain an agreed area of professional interest and expertise and act as a resource to other members, accessing relevant external training.
To participate in clinical audit as requested.
To keep up to date with advances in Occupational Therapy to actively promote an understanding of the role of occupational therapy to outside agencies.
To participate in staff and service development through attendance at service meetings and in-service training, including taking a lead in facilitating such events and presenting information as appropriate.
To contribute towards the evaluation of the service through audit and the use of outcome measures and in-service research projects. Where appropriate to take a lead in implementing those which have an occupational therapy element.
To actively influence service improvements and quality issues.
To comply with organisational policies relating to Equal Opportunities, Data Protection and Health and Safety at Work legislation.
To undertake other appropriate additional duties as required by the Head of Department.
To ensure compliance with the Health and Social Services Department’s Health and Safety Policy and any departmental policy.
Qualifications: Degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent.
Evidence of Post Graduate training.
– Experienced in the field of Mental Health is preferred
– An understanding of Occupational Therapy process/interventions and can take a “hands on” approach
– The ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
– A good understanding of core Occupational Therapy skills and the motivation to keep up-to-date with current best practice in OT
– Excellent communication / time management skills
Compliance: HCPC Registration.
Travel: To travel to and from work independently.
Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week.
