Senior Account Manager

  • Main purpose of job:

  • Managing the profit and loss on assigned projects

  • Managing and working with the account team from briefing through to delivery

  • Managing daily client communications and status updates

  • Supporting Account Director and managing assignments during their absence



  • Responsible for overseeing work of an Account Manager

  • Responsible for line management of an Account Manager

  • Responsible for day-to-day profitable delivery of accounts/projects

  • Responsible for delivering projects and programmes within pre-agreed timelines and budgets

  • Responsible for managing reconciliation of client accounts

  • Where appropriate, work independently with clients to take briefs and deliver projects

  • Where appropriate, effectively deputize for an Account Director

  • Managing client status reports

  • Liaising with all key functions within PHASE II


  • 3yrs plus experience in a Medical Communications agency/Pharmaceutical industry

  • Educated to degree level or above

  • Aptitude for, or demonstration of, line management responsibilities

  • Excellent client facing and interpersonal skills

  • Experience of delivering timely and profitable medical communication projects

  • Well-organized, with good attention to detail

  • Ability to matrix manage across all functions to deliver client projects (e.g. design, digital, editorial)

  • Ability to find quick and clever ways to overcome difficulties

  • Confident in both client and company situations

  • Willing to learn new skills

  • Proficient in all areas of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Hardworking adaptable and can work confidently within a group

    Ad hoc responsibilities:

  • Accountable for personal supplies and IT hardware (including server housekeeping and software updates)

  • Organising and managing personal diary

  • Organising and carrying out administrative activities

  • Managing and tracking personnel expenses

  • Tracking time against client accounts and projects

  • Maintaining a polite and presentable image at all times

  • Adhering to Company operating procedures and handbook

  • Adhering to PHASE II Company values

  • Limits of authority

  • Approval of purchases up to £250.00
