Seven Social Care are looking for a temporary Housing Support Worker to work in Gateshead. This position is initially for a period of 6 weeks and is paying £11.64 per hour via an umbrella company.

The role:

We require someone who has an understanding of homelessness, benefits, outreach work, mental health issues, can work with new systems and can work with people over 25. We require someone to have a good understanding around council tax and debt issues and support to promote independence. Someone with experience of working with clients who may have suffered DV and may miss use substances and have a good understanding of safeguarding and childrens welfare being paramount.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To provide practical and emotional support to vulnerable customers, assisting with issues around finances, health, housing, life skills, personal safety, legal issues, substance misuse, children, employment, training and education
  • To undertake practical support with young people to reduce the risk of homelessness and promote sustainable independent living.
  • To use effective risk assessment tools to identify risks and undertake appropriate actions.
  • To develop effective individual support packages by completing needs assessments, support plans and support reviews.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: NVQ in Health and Social Care
  • Experience: 2+ years working within a similar role.
  • Compliance: Current DBS check.
  • Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
  • Hours: 37.5 hours p/w.
