Prison Nurse – (Registered General Nurse) RGN

Seven Criminal Justice are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and highly skilled Registered General Nurse (RGN) to join our team in the prison healthcare sector in Rochdale. This role offers an excellent opportunity to use your nursing skills in a unique environment that brings a high level of job satisfaction and varied duties each day.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide comprehensive and professional nursing care to the prisoners, ensuring that appropriate healthcare services are accessible for all inmates.
2. Conduct complete health assessments for incoming prisoners, including physical and mental health evaluations.
3. Administer medications under the direction of a prescribing physician and monitor for side effects or adverse reactions.
4. Collaborate with prison officers, prison management, and other healthcare staff to manage, plan, and coordinate healthcare provision within the prison setting.
5. Respond to medical emergencies, providing immediate care and coordinating further treatment as necessary.
6. Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records. Comply fully with all legal and professional requirements related to record keeping.
7. Uphold high standards of infection control, cleanliness, and order within the working environment.
8. Participate in health promotion and education activities to guide prisoners towards a healthy lifestyle.
Requirements:
1. Valid registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
2. Proven work experience as a Registered General Nurse.
3. Familiarity with the unique requirements of working within a prison environment.
4. Excellent critical thinking, decision-making, and communications skills.
5. Compassionate and patient-centred approach to providing healthcare.
6. Ability to handle stressful and challenging situations calmly and professionally.
7. Flexibility for various shift patterns to meet the demands of a 24/7 healthcare service.
