Senior Homeless Intervention Officer

Seven Resourcing are looking for a Senior Homeless Intervention Officer to work in Bedfordshire. This position is initially for a period of 6 months and is paying £27.92 (PAYE) or £35 (umbrella) per hour. The working hours are Monday – Friday from 9am – 5pm.

The role:
In this role, you will be providing support and casework management assistance to Housing Options Officers. The post requires leadership and a confident, engaging and a diplomatic communicator to ensure the service can meet the daily demands of clients who are homeless, threatened with homelessness or in need of housing advice. In additional, you will be providing comprehensive and specialist housing advice service to members of the public. This will involve making use of all available housing resources to advise customers of all their housing options as well as their legal rights. You will be assessing applications in accordance with the homelessness legislation and all the available resources to discharge the council’s statutory homelessness duties. We have a strong emphasis on preventing homelessness and you will be required to develop personal housing plans to help keep applicants in their existing homes or help them find alternative accommodation options. The role involves conducting robust inquiries to establish the housing duties owed to our customers. This will involve negotiating with landlords, helping applicants find alternative housing options, identifying support needs and put practical measures in place to find solutions for customers who are homeless or threatened with homelessness. You need to be resilient and thrive in a high pressured, fast paced environment. Experience of managing a busy and demanding caseload is essential. Experience of good planning and organisational skills and the ability to effectively plan, prioritise and organise case load is also required. Experience of assessing applications under the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and part 7 of the 1996 Housing Act is essential.

Applicant Requirements:
Experience: 2+ years working within a similar role.
Compliance: Proof of right to work in the UK and 2 x references.
Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
Hours: 37 hours p/w.
