Substance Misuse Recovery Worker

  • Location: Swadlincote, Derbyshire
  • Salary: £23 - £23 per hour
  • Type: Temporary / Full Time

We are currently looking for a dedicated Substance Misuse Recovery Worker for an ongoing role in Swadlincote, Derbyshire. You will be working in a rehabilitation centre assisting service users from all walks of life to overcome their substance misuse issues.

**Responsibilities:**

1. Conduct initial assessments and create personalised recovery plans for individuals.

2. Provide psycho-social and therapeutic support to clients.

3. Facilitate group and one-to-one counselling sessions.

4. Liaise with external agencies for the benefit of service users, such as employment agencies, housing associations, or medical professionals.

5. Monitor and record service users’ progress, ensuring any changes in their behaviour or their health are escalated as appropriate.

6. Offer advice and guidance to clients on a range of lifestyle issues, including housing and employment opportunities.

7. Provide harm reduction advice and encourage healthier lifestyle choices.

8. Maintain accurate records in accordance with confidentiality guidelines and legal requirements.

**Qualifications:**

1. Certified training and proven experience in substance misuse or drug/alcohol recovery techniques.

2. Knowledge of the issues facing substance misusers including appropriate medical interventions, social care and the benefits system.

3. Exceptional communication, organisation, and time management skills, with the ability to establish supportive relationships with service users.

4. A valid and current DBS check.

**Skills and Experience:**

1. Experience working in a similar role within substance misuse services.

2. Able to work with clients who may display challenging behaviour.

3. Understanding and knowledge of confidentiality and data protection.

4. Understanding of health and safety issues in substance misuse services.

5. Knowledge of Safeguarding Vulnerable adults and children.
