Substance Misuse Worker

Seven Criminal Justice are seeking an experienced and dedicated Substance Misuse Worker to join our team in Brighton. The role involves supporting individuals struggling with substance misuse to help them on their path to recovery.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Manage a caseload of individuals dealing with substance misuse.

2. Provide one-to-one support, guidance, and advice to service users on issues related to their substance misuse.

3. Develop personalised care plans that address all areas of recovery, including health, wellbeing, social integration, and employment.

4. Deliver evidence-based interventions and therapeutic group work, aimed at motivating and supporting service users to overcome their substance misuse.

5. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as therapists, nurses, or doctors, to ensure holistic care is provided for the service users.

6. Keep accurate and timely records of contact with service users, their progress, and any issues arising.

7. Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings to ensure effective coordination of support.

8. Communicate effectively with family members, caregivers, and organisations that can assist in the recovery process.

9. Educate individuals, families, and the community about substance misuse.

Qualifications and Skills:

1. NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care, or equivalent qualification in substance misuse and addiction studies.

2. Previous experience in a similar role – working with substance misuse clients.

3. Knowledge about different types of substances, their effects, and methods of treatment.

4. Excellent communication, counselling, and interpersonal skills.

5. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries while working with vulnerable individuals.

6. Willingness to participate in continuous professional development.

7. Understanding of legal and ethical standards surrounding substance misuse work.
