Substance Misuse Worker

Seven Criminal Justice are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Substance Misuse Worker to join our team in providing exceptional support and therapy to individuals struggling with substance misuse in Canterbury, UK. The successful candidate will earn £24 per hour and will be responsible for delivering therapeutic interventions and recovery-orientated services to those dealing with substance misuse issues.
Responsibilities:
1. Conduct comprehensive assessments of client’s substance misuse problems, including detailed histories, identifying the priority needs and developing care plans.
2. Utilize holistic approaches to support recovery and promote well-being for those struggling with substance misuse.
3. Develop and sustain effective working relationships with clients, their families and other relevant agencies.
4. Provide pharmacological interventions and psychosocial interventions such as mentoring, counselling, cognitive behavioural therapy.
5. Facilitate group work where clients are educated and supported to manage substance misuse and prevent relapse.
6. Maintain up-to-date, accurate client records in line with policy and legal requirements, ensuring confidentiality at all times.
7. Collaborate closely with medical professionals, therapists, and social workers to formulate the best care plans.
8. Participate in regular supervision, team meetings, and contribute effectively to team working.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling or relevant field.
2. Certificate in Substance Misuse or Addiction Studies is a plus.
3. Significant experience in providing support and intervention to individuals affected by substance misuse.
4. Knowledge of harm reduction strategies, detox, rehabilitation and relevant legislation.
5. Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
6. DBS check is required.
