Advisory Teacher

Seven Resourcing is seeking a temporary Advisory Teacher to join the Virtual School team at the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.

  • Hours: Part-time (21.6 hours per week)
  • Pay Rates:
  • PAYE: £22.36 per hour
  • Umbrella: £27.84 per hour

The hiring manager is looking for someone who has taught at least two key stages.

Role Overview

As an Advisory Teacher, you will use your expertise to positively impact the educational outcomes of children in care and previously looked after children. You will support, advise, and challenge school leaders, social workers, and school staff to identify and overcome barriers affecting educational attainment.

You will deliver high-quality training and support for carers and Designated Teachers, ensuring statutory duties and best practice standards are met. Your extensive knowledge in education—including Special Educational Needs, exclusions, and behaviour management—will help focus on progress, needs identification, attendance, targeted interventions, and enrichment provision addressing academic, social, and emotional needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide intensive educational casework for a designated cohort of children and young people looked after, ensuring appropriate services and interventions through multi-disciplinary collaboration.
  • Deliver the Virtual School’s education vision, reflecting local, regional, and national priorities and legislation, with a strong emphasis on raising educational standards for children looked after.
  • Support and guide the Virtual School team on key priorities within your area of specialism.
  • Ensure high-quality Personal Education Plans are in place within agreed timescales for all children and young people looked after in your area of responsibility. Ensure purposeful discharge of pupil premium funding in line with local authority policy.
  • Undertake direct work with children and young people in educational settings, community, and home/placement to fully meet educational needs and identify barriers. This may include observation, mentoring, and tuition as appropriate, with travel across the country to wherever children are placed.

Applicant Requirements

  • Qualifications: University degree at 2:2 or above
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year post-graduate teaching experience in the UK
  • Compliance: Proof of eligibility to live and work in the UK, QTS, DBS, and two references
