The role:

This role will be temp to perm

Under the professional direction of a teacher to supervise whole classes during the short term absence of class teacher. To use material planned by a teacher to engage pupils in learning activities.

To act as a role model and set high expectations of work and behaviour. Assist with the inclusion of all children to ensure optimum learning opportunities including dealing with behaviour issues in accordance with the school behaviour policy.

Respond to pupils’ general queries and keep pupils on task. Provide support for teachers complying with instructions/lesson plans requested by usual class teacher, providing feedback and records as appropriate.

Have an awareness of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection.

Must have:- Enhanced DBS/Children’s Barred List check, minimum 2 year relevant experience in a teaching/learning/child support working environment, good literacy and numeracy skills, good communication skills with ability to form effective relationships with a variety of different people and trained to at least a NVQ3 standard. Familiar with education working practices including health and safety responsibilities.
