Nursery Nurse/Childrens Support Worker

Seven Resourcing are looking for a temporary Childrens Support Worker/Nursery Nurse to work in North Birmingham. This position is initially for a period of 3 months and is paying £12.00 – £16.00 per hour (PAYE and Umbrella payment options available).

The role:

To provide support to children and their families whilst they are in our refuge accommodation. To provide a support service to children, specifically those affected by domestic abuse, on an individual basis, using a person centred approach. To empower children and young people to develop a positive attitude to life and self-image, to promote gender equality, to build on their strengths, confidence and self-esteem, to make informed decisions about their lives and build healthy relationships with the non-abusive parent.

Key Responsibilities:

      To support service users with needs identified for their children in their individual support plan, monitoring and review of support packages

To facilitate and support service users in decision making; promoting choice and independence

To plan, prepare and deliver workshop sessions to children on a 1:1 and a group basis, whilst parents are receiving housing related support

Delivery of regular individual and family sessions working towards improving the overall wellbeing of children as well as strengthening the family unit

To deliver innovative group play sessions, music and creative arts

To provide good supportive links with service providers and professionals working with children across all agencies

To organise consultations, meetings with children and parents and to ensure parents are included in their parents play and development.

To organise outdoor/ indoor activities during half term for children and parents through consultations and meetings to meet needs of every child.

To maintain service users records, both written and on the computer, and to ensure effective communication within the team and with any statutory or voluntary organisations involved in support eg. Schools, social services, police, etc.

To ensure the health and safety of service users, self and others at all times by ensuring that the requirements of the association or statutory authorities are complied with.

 

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Minimum NVQ 3 in childcare/or Youth & Community Work, NNEB, Cache Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: 1+ year of experience within a similar role.
  • Compliance: Proof of ability to work and live in the UK. Current DBS and references covering the last 3 years.
  • Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
  • Hours: 37.5 hours p/w.
