Seven Resourcing is working with Coventry City Council to recruit a Qualified Teacher in Adults services with Secondary School Experience at their service at Coventry Community Resource Centre.
Working Hours: 2 hours per day on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for up to 10 weeks
Start Date: ASAP
End Date: Up to 10 weeks total
Pay: Fixed half day rate of £75 (PAYE)
Overview of service area / role
Adult Education deliver a project in partnership with the Migration / Resettlement team for newly arrived migrants. They may be newly arrived in the UK or been in the UK for a few years and relocating on a more permanent basis to Coventry.
A qualified secondary school teacher is required to teach the children / young people from 11- 16yrs old from these families who are waiting for places in mainstream schools. They may or may not have experience of education within a formal school setting. Understanding and sensitivity to the needs of refugees and those newly arrived in the UK with limited and disrupted educational backgrounds essential. Experience of working with EAL (and potentially SEN) advantageous.
Overview of duties and tasks to be carried out:
Qualified teacher required to teach secondary school aged children who may not have English as their first language. Preparing them for mainstream education by establishing a structure and routine as per standard school day. Teaching materials need to be sourced by the teacher and adapted to suit the interests and level the children are operating at- which may not be in line with ages /key stages. Materials and approaches also have to be sensitive to the background and experiences the children have undergone as part of their relocation to the UK. The sessions are not delivered in a standard classroom and have limited access to IT equipment.
Candidate Requirements – experience and skills
Experienced Teacher required to plan and deliver sessions to children at all elements of secondary education.
Holds an Enhance DBS – with Children and Adult Barred List.
Understanding and sensitivity to the needs of refugees and those newly arrived in the UK with limited and disrupted educational backgrounds essential. Experience of working with EAL (and potentially SEN) advantageous.

Standard working day / week include total number of weeks required per week
The sessions are 2 hrs 3 times a week, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday from 12:30- 2:30pm for up to 10 weeks.
The role may run for 10 weeks, starting Oct 2nd 2023 and continue until 14th Dec 2023. However, the appointment will cease once the children obtain school places, which may be shorter than the planned 10 weeks. The number of children may also decrease throughout the course as they acquire school places.
