SEN Assessment & Review Officer

Seven Resourcing are looking for a temporary SEN Assessment and Review Officer to work in Sheffield. This position is initially for a period of 3 months and is paying £120.00 – £130.00 per day (paid to you via an umbrella company).
The role:
To write Statements of Special Educational Needs.
To lead the SEN assessment process on a day to day basis within the Family of Schools model.
To be the lead officer for an educational phase with a knowledge of provision.
To lead transition arrangements for a specific educational phase.
To represent the SEN Assessment team at annual reviews for children and young people who are Looked After Children and/or with complex needs.
To visit schools and parents as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Under direction from the Head of SEN, implement national and local policies and operational matters in relation to children and young people with Special Educational Needs.
To be responsible for preparation of draft statements of Special Educational Needs or draft Notes in Lieu and Final statements within the current statutory timescales as indicated within the Code of Practice.
To read, discuss and agree statements with the Head of SEN.
To lead a team of SEN Development Officers and a Senior SEN Development Officer.
To ensure that SEN Development Officers efficiently prepare cases ready for submission to service managers.
To have a clear overview of the SEN casework within their designated team and to lead on complex and detailed case work.
To oversee the day to day operational business of the Family of Schools Officer working within their team.
To attend SEN and other panels as required by the Head of SEN, to make recommendations to panels for decisions on statutory assessment, requests for specialist provision or any complex or provision. To deputise for the Chair as required .
To lead the transition process for admission of pupils with SEN in a specific educational phase.
To advise Head teachers and Governors about individual children and young people, including the best use of SEN resources and the requirement to make a reasonable adjustment in school.
Applicant Requirements:
- Qualifications: N/A.
- Experience: 1+ year of experience within a similar role.
- Compliance: Proof of ability to work and live in the UK. Current DBS check and references covering the last 3 years.
- Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
- Hours: 35 hours p/w.
