Senior Special Education Needs (SEN) Practitioner

Seven Resourcing has an amazing oppurtunity for a Senior Special Educational Needs (SEN) Practitioner to work in Nottingham with its excellent range of nightlife and shopping.

This position is initially until 30 June 2023 and is paying £350.00 per day.

The role:

The ICDS, Statutory EHC Assessment Team are a county wide service with a clear split to provide a Pre and Post 16 focus, Both internal teams (Pre and Post 16) are responsible for assessing for and maintaining all Education, Health & Care Plans (EHCP’s) for Nottinghamshire children, young people.

This team facilitates a statutory process and has to work to strict timescales. We are currently recruiting for a ICDS Senior Practitioner in the Pre16 Team

Key Responsibilities:

• Have a strong working knowledge of the Children & Families Act 2014, the SEND Regulations and the SEN Code of Practice 2015
• Ideally, you will have an understanding of The Mental Capacity Act and experience of working directly with young people as they prepare for adulthood. Knowledge of Nottinghamshire’s    education landscape would also be helpful
• Have detailed working knowledge of the Education, Health & Care statutory assessment process, having oversight of timescales, supporting the team to meet these as well as   understanding the implications of these not being met.
• Take a lead on preparing the Local Authority (LA) response to EHC Appeals (Mediation/Tribunal) and represent the LA at mediation meetings or at court for Tribunals
• Quality assure EHC plans, ensuring that the CYP’s aspirations are reflected, voice is heard and that outcomes are measurable
• Have good literacy & I.T skills and working knowledge of MOSAIC. or other databases
• Act as a Locality lead, developing and maintaining strong partnerships with Education, Health & Care colleagues.
• Have experience of undertaking difficult conversations with staff, families and partners
• Facilitate multi-agency meetings to review the EHC Plan or where it has been identified that an education placement may be at risk for those most complex cases to support the     development of or cover for EHCP Co-ordinators
• Have good understanding of the graduated approach to services and education support in Nottinghamshire for children, young people at SEN Support
• Hold a small complex caseload following Tribunals
• Undertake termly placement monitoring meetings for Locality Special schools and Independent Non-maintained Special schools
• Have Line Management of 5plus staff including EHCP Co-ordinators and Assistant EHCP Co-ordinators including their personal & professional Supervision
• Ideally, you will have an understanding of The Mental Capacity Act and experience of working directly with young people as they prepare for adulthood. Knowledge of Nottinghamshire’s    education landscape would also be helpful

The Person: We are looking for a highly motivated resilient worker with the ability to work under pressure. You will need to demonstrate your enthusiasm to improve services for young people with additional needs and be able to organise and manage your work within set statutory timescales. You will be highly skilled in communicating and negotiation with experience in working effectively with young people with additional needs, their parents/carers as well as a range of Education, Health and Social Care agencies and professionals. Above all else, you will demonstrate an ambition to support our young people to lead happy, productive and safe adult lives within their communities including paid employment whenever possible.

Qualifications: N/A.

Experience: 1+ year of experience within a similar role.

Compliance: Proof of ability to work and live in the UK. Current DBS check and references covering the last 5 years.

Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.

Hours: 37 hours p/w.
