Assistant Manager – Family Unit

  • Salary: £24000 - £27000 per annum

Seven Resourcing are looking for a Permanent Assistant Manager to work in the Ilford, Greater London area.

Hours: 40 per week (includes some weekend / evening / Bank holiday hours)

The role:

To be a positive role model for the parents, child and practitioners and encourage both to develop meaningful relationships and attachments.

To be responsible for the case management of a defined number of families advising and supporting throughout the assessment process.

Responsible for the safe running of the Transition Unit on a shift-by-shift basis, ensuring compliance with Residential Family Centre National Minimum Standards, Health and Safety legislation and safeguarding legislation.


Key Responsibilities:

Transition Unit

  • To ensure the smooth and safe running of the transition unit.
  • To ensure that where necessary, specific policies and processes are developed.
  • Working as part of the Senior Leadership Team to ensure that staffing safe and appropriate across the site.

Part of Senior Leadership Team

  • To deputise for the Deputy Manager as required
  • To support the Registered Manager and Deputy to deliver on the content of the Certificate of Registration and the Statement of Purpose of the Centre.
  • To ensure that the home environment is appropriate and sensitive to the needs of the families and in line with National Minimum Standards for Residential Family Centres 2013.
  • To participate in the quality assurance and governance processes and systems.
  • Support the Registered Manager and Deputy with staff supervision and support and inductions.
  • Work within the policies and procedures established in the House and those of Resolve Care Ltd and ensuring that all staff are aware of these and adhering to these.

Shift Lead

  • Be responsible for the care and safety of both families and staff and all aspects of running the House during relevant shifts (acting as shift lead)
  • To ensure that numbers of staff, competence and deployment of staff overall and on individual shifts can fulfil Residential Family Centre National Minimum Standards, Resolve’s Statement of Purpose and meet the individual needs of the families within the Centre.
  • Oversight of all documentation on the electronic case files ensuring that it is accurate recording all the work undertaken on the electronic case file
  • Completion of daily handover
  • Responsibility for adherence to Health and Safety policies and ensure that appropriate checks are undertaken as required and that faults or concerns acted upon and reported immediately to Deputy Manager / Manager.
  • Direct supervision of staff team on the shift ensuring that they are all clear about their responsibilities towards the families in their care.
  • To provide practical advice, support and guidance to staff and parents to ensure that they are able to provide safe and consistent care for themselves and their children to ensure positive outcomes and experiences.
  • To ensure oversight and sign off of Incident Forms in respect of incidents occurring during the shift.

Case Management

  • To be responsible for overseeing the management of a defined caseload
  • To ensure that all documentation is relevant and robust.
  • To complete the weekly summary report for identified families.
  • To direct staff on specific key work and traffic light sessions as required and ensure delivery of such to achieve outcomes.
  • To be responsible for ensuring that all meetings are planned and documented appropriately, and that staff are in attendance where necessary.
  • To liaise with the LA, Guardian and ISWs as necessary and to work with the ISW to agree an assessment plan and implementation of this plan.
  • To direct and oversee co-key workers and other staff who will be working with the family on a daily basis, including supervision of staff where appropriate.
  • To liaise where necessary with other professionals i.e. health visitors, GPs, social workers.
  • To assist in preparation for reviews and meetings and attend when required.
  • To develop and sustain collaborative links with a range of agencies and practitioners alongside parents in order to co-ordinate and deliver bespoke support packages to children/young people and their families (e.g. R3).
  • Promote an assertive but supportive approach with families which engages families in identifying and implementing solutions and ensure that parents/carers and children/young people are able to participate fully in decisions that impact on their wellbeing.


Managing resources

  •  To maintain a safe environment, complying with health and safety and other legal requirements
  • To maintain the fabric of the building, its grounds and equipment in good order, encourage staff and children to care for their surroundings and make best use of the available resources.
  • To manage physical, financial and human resources effectively.
  • To use community resources where appropriate.


  • To read and understand Company policies and procedures and ensure their operation within the Centre.
  • To maintain professional knowledge and skills through reading, attending conferences, training and other such activities, as agreed with the line manager. 
  • To report to a line manager or other appropriate person, in the event of awareness of concerns in respect of families or staff.

  • The post holder must be aware of their responsibility for ensuring that all data is collected, stored and shared in line with Data Protection legislation.

Infection Control and Covid

  • We expect all of our staff to follow local and statutory guidance regarding PPE and infection control. 

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 and 5 or working towards.
  • Experience: 2+ years working within a similar role.
  • Compliance: Current DBS check and references covering the last 3 years.
  • Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
  • Hours: 40 hours p/w.
