Seven Resourcing is working with Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council to recruit a Child Protection Legal Executive.

£15.59ph PAYE

Initial 3 month contract

Job Purpose:

The purpose of this role is to assist and support the solicitors/barristers in the Child Protection Team in the provision of an efficient and effective legal service to the Council, its Members, various directorates and officers.

This will include provision of an enhanced legal service to the Council’s Directorates of Children’s Services and Young People and Adult Social Care (as appropriate to the expertise of the lawyer), in respect of public law child protection and in line with the guidance and requirements of the Public Law Outline, the conduct of cases in the FDAC and the Court of Protection in relation to children.

Duties:

To assist in the provision of an efficient and effective legal service to the Council, its Members, Council Directorates and Officers.

To assist in the case management of public law childcare cases for the Directorate of People – Children’s Services – to be heard in the Family Court and High Court; specifically the role primarily involves drafting and filing of court applications through the Family Portal, contacting witnesses, drafting some statements of evidence, redaction of documents, booking counsel/agents, preparation of bundles of documents for court, and case management tasks.

Dealing with correspondence and telephone queries in relation to individual child

protection cases.

To draft all legal documents (appropriate to this role) required in the preparation of court proceedings up to the point of issue,

Occassional attendance at the Family Court with Counsel to represent Childrens

Services.

Assisting solicitors/barristers in the day to day management of cases in the FDAC and in the Court of Protection (children) as required.

Promoting and operating in accordance with the diverse needs of the community to ensure equal access to services;

Any other tasks which may from time to time be delegated to the post holder by the Senior or Principal Solicitor or the Lead for Law and Governance.

Applicant Requirements:

Qualifications:

      Relevant Legal Qualification

Experience: 2+ years working in legal services, desirably within children’s services.

Compliance: Up to date Passport, DVLA Check and DBS.

Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.

Hours: 37 hours p/w.
