Childcare Support Worker

Seven Resourcing are looking for a temporary Childcare Support Worker to work in Blackwood. This position is initially for a period of 3 months and is paying £14.32 per hour (paid to you via an umbrella company).

The role:

The role is to provide a service to children and young people, their families or carers within their community, and includes direct work with children.

The specific nature of the role is to supervise contact between children and parents/family members.

Support Workers assist and support qualified officers in the discharge of the statutory obligations of the authority in relation to children who may be “looked after”, or the subject of a child protection plan.

Key Responsibilities:

      To have named case responsibility for Children in Need cases, to include management of child in need and related plans under the supervision of a team manager or senior practitioner.

To provide direct support as part of a care/service plan based on assessed need to families or individual children including Children in Need, and children who are named on the Child Protection Register, children who are being Looked After, or who may be the subject of other statutory or court related order(s).

To undertake assessments of children in need where required, under the direction of a team manager, or senior practitioner.

To liaise with partner agencies both statutory and voluntary in the provision of services for children and their families.

To establish and maintain effective working relationships with service users, carers and colleagues within social services and other agencies.

To inform the line manager of any relevant change in circumstances and causes for concern relating to service users and their carers.

Where necessary to comply with relevant timescales for the completion of work.

To be able to work sensitively with adults, children and young people who may be experiencing stress and trauma, whilst maintaining a clear focus upon the needs and well being of the child or young person at all times.

To record essential information, including contributing to the compilation of records that may be used in statutory proceedings including court processes.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care.
  • Experience: 2+ years working within a similar role.
  • Compliance: Current DBS and references covering the last 2 years.
  • Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
  • Hours: 37 hours p/w.
