Green Space And Biodiversity Manager

Seven Resourcing are looking for an interim Green Space and Biodiversity Manager to work in Rugby. This position is initially for a period of 6 months and is paying £22.78 – £27.79 per hour (PAYE and umbrella payment options are available).

The role:

To lead and drive improvements in the area of Green Space Service by being a proactive champion of public spaces for the community ensuring value for money and the delivery of high quality service in line with the expectations of the community.

The post holder advises the council generally, on policy matters within the post holder’s responsibilities. The post holder works with council staff, at all levels, working under their own direction, receiving general guidance on corporate and service policy and priorities.

The postholder is responsible for the overall management of the Green Space Service and will support the Head of Environmental Services and other unit managers to deliver the Council’s corporate objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

      To strive towards enhancing the community’s quality of life, and the quality of their everyday environment, by establishing priorities for improvement, by facilitating the delivery of those improvements, and by changing the perception of the parks and open spaces and other natural environments that they traverse the borough going about their daily business.

Advise the Council in the evolution of its aspirations for the Green Space Service and recommend changes to strategies, policies and service delivery that would bring improvements to the publics opinion of their “Green Spaces”

Provide leadership and direction to the functions and staff within the Green Space service area and ensure that the team contributes to its full potential in the delivery on the Council’s priorities.

To advise, coordinate and manage the Council’s S106 projects relating to parks, open spaces and amenity green spaces to ensure the borough’s green spaces are well managed and coordinated in line with the housing growth in the borough.

Develop the Green Space Service strategy and policies and ensure that these are delivered, promoted and effectively marketed in such a way to ensure the service is inclusive and sustainable.

To ensure that the actions of the Council promote bio-diversity and sustainable land management principles, and wherever possible influence other land owners and agencies to achieve similar objectives.

To develop and promote the use of Green Spaces for informal recreation and play; and wherever possible seek to attract external funding and other business opportunities to assist in this ambition.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Educated to Degree level, or equivalent.
  • Experience: An advanced understanding and experience of the technical aspects of the Parks and open spaces Service.
  • Compliance: 2 years written references and proof of right to work in the UK.
  • Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
  • Hours: 37 hours p/w.
