Mental Health Social Worker

Seven Social Care is looking for a qualified Mental Health Social Worker at Shropshire Council

The role:

You will contribute to the achievement of both the Council’s Vision of “Quality and Value in Partnership” and the Directorate’s Vision and Values Statement. You will also play your part in helping to deliver the Directorate’s service plan objectives and the targets set in the Performance Assessment Framework. You will carry out your work to the standards set in the relevant professional and national occupational standards

The post holder will be responsible to a Senior Social Worker who is in turn responsible for the post holders supervision, health & safety, training & development.

The post will be based in the Mental Health Social Work Team, where we continue key partnership working with our health colleagues in Midlands Partnership Foundation Trust along with other partner agencies. Some of the post holder’s duties will be carried out from alternative locations. The proportion of time spent in the locality and on other duties will be determined in supervision and through the Local Authority line management arrangements.

Key Responsibilities:

      To carry out duties relating to the local authority statutory requirements under the Care Act (2014) and Mental Health Act (2007) and Mental Capacity Act (2005)

To manage a caseload of people with complex mental health needs.

To deliver interventions to individuals and carers as part of an integrated team and in partnership with health colleagues.

Applicant Requirements:


      Degree approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Experience: 2+ years working with children as a qualified Social Worker in the UK.

Compliance: Up to date HCPC registration and DBS.

Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.

Hours: 37.5 hours p/w.
