Site Engineer

Seven Resourcing is working with Omni Resourcing to recruit a Site Engineer who will be responsible for: Assistant / Junior Engineer (where applicable).
Up to £45,000 per annum, with car allowance of £4,700 per annum OR use of a company car. The site is based in Lincoln, but there are sites all over the Midlands, so please make sure you’re a car driver and able to travel across different sites.
Construction background is desirable.
YOU MUST HAVE UK EXPERIENCE TO BE CONSIDERED. THE CLIENT IS NOT IN A POSITION TO TAKE ANYONE WITH A VISA NEEDED TO WORK.
Job Purpose:
Allocate tasks to Assistant / Junior Engineers and liaise with the Site Manager,
Section Manager, General Foreman and manage the task to completion.
Ensure the Inspection and Test Plans, and Quality Check Sheets are completed at the same time as the work to ensure that it is delivered to specification.
Oversee engineering requirements demanded in the delivery of the scope of work or on larger projects, of a subcontractor, to meet the construction programme, working and coordinating with the teams.
Ensure all works and personnel meet all Health, Safety and Quality standards.
Duties:
Understand what is being built and proposed methods of construction
Understand the engineering principles for the works to be constructed
Identify the need for Temporary Works and liaise with the Temporary Works Coordinator
Be responsible for setting out for line and level on the site, obtaining setting out details from the Construction drawings or CAD model or other digital platforms
Check accuracy of material schedules as requested (e.g. kerbing, reinforcement, paving)
Contribute to the development of Method Statements and Risk Assessments
Ensure the Inspection and Test Plans, and Quality Check Sheets are completed at the same time as the work to ensure that it is delivered to specification
Have detailed knowledge of Contract Specifications (incl Specification for Highways Works and relevant British Standards) and requirements for compliance and accuracy
Understand construction methodology and Develop / Approve relevant procedures specific to the area of works
Follow procedures for checking work as it progresses
Enforce ‘hold points’ in the plan of work
Review contract documents and identify and spot potential issues and resolve them prior to them arising
Ensure all works are completed in accordance with the design and specification
Ensure contemporaneous As-built records are kept in line with divisional processes and the Contract
Specification
Review all procedures on a regular basis to ensure they are as efficient as possible
Be familiar with LEAN procedures and contribute to daily meetings
Liaise with the wider project and Design Team to resolve technical issues (Raise TQ’s or RFI’s)
Able to understand new and innovative technologies
Ensure stations and provided survey data is checked prior to works commencing
To willingly carry out any reasonable task as requested by a member of management
Planning/ Programming
Develop and monitor short term look-ahead programmes
Provide input and report progress to the project planner
Financial Management / Systems
Develop an understanding of the detail of commercial implications behind decisions
Work closely with the QS for your section of work
Understand the basic costs for labour, plant and materials
Ensure allocated cost for section is maintained or improved on
Understand the scope of works and attendances included in Subcontract orders, to support the management of subcontractors.
Quality Control
Supervise the on-site inspection process and ensure all inspections are completed on time and in digital format.
Ensure inspections & tests are completed digitally in accordance with Inspection and Test Plans (ITP)
Identify problems and manage their resolution (issues / defects)
Conduct surveys of finished work (as-built data) and store weekly on Teams in required format and details
Set up and maintain control points around the site
Keep accurate, legible and organised records of surveys & testing (e.g slump tests or cube results) in digital format
Check that materials delivered are correct, are in good order and stored as recommended by the manufacturer or supplier, raise any Non-conformance with site management
Check that completed works are protected from future activities
Health and Safety
Be aware of and understand the Health Safety and Environmental procedures and site plans in line with the Site Induction and RAMS and support the implementation of these and conduct all duties in a manner consistent with these
Manage subcontractors and suppliers to construct the works safely, being assertive in stopping unsafe working
Producing method statements and risk assessments (RAMS) for own works
Raise Near Misses as observed
Raise incidents as observed
Record Keeping
Keep an accurate and appropriate digital site diary on a Common Data Environment
Measure and record ‘as built’ elements of the work
Keep accurate and appropriate records of all the stages of the works progress
Submit as a minimum weekly exposure hour records
Communication
Engage with designers and specialists to develop conceptual and detailed solutions Work collaboratively with and co-operate with Project Team Members and the Employer in support of a collaborative working culture
Liaise with Eurovia staff, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors and the general workforce involved in the project on a daily basis
Communicate with clients and their representatives (architects, engineers and surveyors), including attending regular meetings to keep them informed of progress
Use specialist software and digital systems to assist in project delivery for example Aconex making effective use of document control to manage distribution of information
Ensure project delivery programmes are updated with progress (e.g. LetsBuild)
To actively foster a positive staff morale
BIM
Understanding of the principles of Building Information Modelling (BIM), the requirements for BIM level 2, the supporting documentation and standards, and the barriers of implementation.
Appreciation of the value of high-quality data and principles of data management along with the controls required to protect the security of digitally built assets
Support the use of IT to achieve efficiency in service delivery. Understanding the technical, technology and interoperability requirements for BIM Level 2.
Applicant Requirements:
- Qualifications:Good general education as a minimum with a focus on STEM subjects
Desirable civil engineering or similar degree and working towards or having achieved Engineering
Technician, Incorporated or Charted Engineer level with CIHT or ICE or CICES
