  • This role reports to the Deputy Managing Director
  • Responsible for line management of senior account team members
  • Deliver projects and programmes within pre-agreed timelines and budgets
  • Manage project plans – identify critical milestones
  • Manage the profitability on assigned projects providing internal budget updates and managing the reconciliation of client accounts
  • Ensure the KPIs on assigned accounts are met by the relevant project teams
  • Oversee and manage daily client communications and status updates
  • Develop new business opportunities within existing and new client accounts
  • Maintain an understanding of changes in the pharmaceutical arena, regulatory field and competitive environment in which your clients operate

Main purpose of job:

  • Strategic guidance and direction on assigned accounts
  • Managing the delivery of critical project deliverables
  • Managing the QA process on assigned digital accounts
  • Managing the KPI process and achievement on assigned accounts
  • Managing the profit and loss on assigned accounts and projects
  • Managing and working with the account team from briefing through to delivery
  • Identifying and developing new business opportunities
  • Line manage the senior members of the Account Services Team


  • Educated to degree level or above
  • 5 years plus experience in appropriate roles in a Medical Communications agency
  • Significant line management experience (both direct line reports, and mentoring expertise)
  • Proven scientific/medical communication skills – ideally in a medical communications environment
  • Demonstrated client facing and interpersonal communication skills at a senior level
  • Experience of commercial negotiations with pharma clients, including procurement team
  • Experience of delivering profitable, large-scale pharma-client accounts, up to client P&L level to time and to budget, and on a global level
  • Experience of pitching for and winning new business – with existing and new clients
  • Strategic insight into the commercialization of pharmaceutical compounds, and providing strategic counsel
  • Experience of providing strategic counsel in a digital environment
  • Good attention to detail for written work
  • Experience of delivering web-based scientific communication solutions
  • Ability to find quick and clever ways to overcome difficulties
  • Confident in both client and company situations
  • Willing to learn new skills
  • Proficient in all areas of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Hardworking adaptable and can work confidently within a group
