Must have Experience in the following:-

  • Thermal Spray or Diffusion Coating
  • 3+ years plant or project engineering
  • CAD would be adventageous


  1. Organises and creates documentation necessary for new applications, including job instructions, job routers, job safety analysis, and standard operating procedures, Management of Change and supporting Manufacturing Variance Analysis (MVA). 

  2. Responsible for interpretation of customer specification and drawings associated with new and existing applications. Providing technical advice and guidance to Customers.

  3. Production of Source Substantiation Packages (SSB), First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) and PFMEA’s, etc., as required to meet Customer Specifications.

  4. Completion of production cost estimation to support the Sales and Engineering Managers in the generation of quotes.

  5. Must adhere to the Quality Management Procedures and specific customer approval requirements at all times.

  6. Plans and organises their projects to customer driven timescales. Coordinates/supports visits by the customer to the plant or to the customer’s premises as required, to establish good relations during project development, as the jobholder will be expected to analyse and interpret the specifications and requirements of the customer.

  7. Designs and arranges the manufacture of tooling, in-house or sub contract, for the individual operations of masking, gritting, coating, heat treatment, and finishing. The tooling can be constructed from a variety of materials, which the jobholder will select appropriate to the application.

  8. To fully support all Health, Safety & Environmental policies and procedure, to achieve Zero / Zero target.

  9. Adopt and support the principles of 5s to achieve a world class standard of 30.



  • Minimum HNC in Engineering (Production/Mechanical/Materials preferred), with a minimum of 3 years plant or project engineering experience and with proven ability to combine theoretical training with practical experience within an aerospace or gas turbine component processing facility.

  • Must have Thermal Spray experience or Diffusion Coatings process experience.

  • Knowledge of processes and equipment typically used in paint/slurry applications.

  • Must have personal computer proficiency (Word, Excel and PowerPoint essential, Minitab and CAD software knowledge desirable), business administration know-how, and a good knowledge of quality control systems.

  • Must be able to communicate ideas orally and in writing, as incumbent participates in engineering activities such as, Research and Development, New product Introduction, Process Improvement, Quality Workshops, etc., requiring liaison with customers, manufacturing teams, all levels of company personnel, contractors, suppliers, and government representatives.


  • BEng/MEng in Materials Engineering with specific knowledge of surface engineering.

  • Experience of working within a multi process surface engineering facility

  • Demonstrable hands-on experience in tooling/process design and manufacture

  • Experience in Robot Programming, Thermal Spray and Automation Techniques. 

  • Supervision experience
