Position:        TECHNICAL SUPPORT & Sales SPECIALIST, UK

Reporting to: Customer Support Supervisor

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Technical Support & Sales Specialist will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following functions:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform on-site instrument installations, commissioning and trainings
  • Contact customers to book installation/training dates
  • Book all travel arrangements for installation/training
  • Prepare all paperwork for customer installation/training
  • Maintain expense reports
  • Customer follow-up after installation/training
  • Perform telephone and e-mail troubleshooting for customers
  • Analyze customer data including assigning diagnostic tests
  • Update and maintain customer log files and binders
  • Update CRM records
  • Perform studies for future method development and assist in development of methods by collecting support data
  • Update method documents
  • Create customer bulletins describing procedures to most efficiently and effectively use their instrument
  • Research possible products to recommend to customers and to sell
  • Perform diagnostics on in-house instruments intended for customer loans
  • Perform software testing
  • Gather all reagents, supplies, and the instrument needed for demonstrations
  • Assignments as required for business promotion/expansion
  • Assist with instrument servicing and assembly as necessary
  • Assist with sales and marketing strategies
  • Maintain office travel calendar
  • Attend conferences
  • Participate in relevant regulatory bodies conferences/meetings
  • Perform technical talks
  • Assist with workshops and perform Chemist portion of content
  • Focus on have expertise on Chemistry troubleshooting for workshops – trusted advisor
  • Help to assess and understand changes in regulation and how that effects our marketing strategies
  • Evaluate and suggest conferences, workshops or other forums in underrepresented markets (markets – soil, surface water, wastewater, etc)
  • Assist with incoming lead evaluation and initial phone calls
  • Customer visits to assess technical needs vs wants
  • Customer visits to maintain relationships and evaluate needs customer may not be addressing with us
  • Assist Technical support Chemists with “Iceberg questions” that should be directed to sales team or management for assessment
  • Hold good general knowledge in all products
  • Have a focus on one product range for expertise
  • Have a market focus for expertise
  • Ensure brand and marketing image are cohesive and clear in public forums
  • Write technical responses or assist with technical responses for bids/tenders
  • Interface with distribution partners on technical sales questions and market needs

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience

Employee requires a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry or related degree with Chemistry experience.

Management Skills

Employee must be able to:

  • Demonstrate experience in a fast-paced environment working as part of a team to accomplish common goals.
    • Communicate effectively with customers and other employees of the organization. Foreign language skills are an advantage

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in currency and units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with a variety of problems and situations.

Flexibility

Employee must be able to:

  • Demonstrate a desire and ability to travel where and when required; up to 3 trips per month of 3 to 4 days each.
