Seven Nursing is looking for a Band 8a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist to work with the Community Learning Disabilities Team based in Leicester.

The role:

To provide a specialist Clinical Psychology service to adults with a learning disability, their families and their carers to include: specialist psychological assessments, development of formulations, and implementation of psychological interventions within the scientist-practitioner framework. To draw upon an extensive knowledge of psychological theory in order to interpret complex information, and communicate this to others in an accessible way. To work with others including: multi-disciplinary and multi-agency colleagues, and provision of specialist advice and consultancy as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The post holder is expected to support the service to implement the relevant national policies.
  • Exercise responsible professional self-governance in accordance with professional codes of practice of the HCPC, British Psychological Society, the Division of Clinical Psychology of the BPS and Trust policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the development, maintenance and dissemination of the highest professional standards of practice, through active participation in internal and external CPD training and development programmes.
  • To ensure the development and articulation of best practice in Clinical Psychology within the service and contribute to the wider service by exercising the skills of a reflexive and reflective scientist practitioner, taking part in regular professional supervision and appraisal and maintaining an active engagement with current developments in the field of Clinical Psychology and related disciplines.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies and issues in relation to both people with learning disabilities and mental health.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology
  • Experience: Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised area of psychological practice
  • Travel: Ability to commute to and from work independently.
  • Hours: Average 37.5, Mon-Fri
