Seven Social Care are looking for a temporary AMHP to work with the Emergency Duty Team in Wirral. This position is initially for a period of 3 months and is paying £30.00 per hour (paid to you via an umbrella company).
The principle responsibility of EDT is to respond to out of hours referrals where intervention from the Local Authority is required to safeguard children and adults, and where it would not be safe, appropriate or lawful to delay that intervention until the next working day.
EDT may also deal with referrals which are not assessed as emergencies, but where delaying intervention could cause deterioration in the welfare or safety of the child or adult.
The EDT service is operational between 17.00 hours and 09.00 hours Monday to Friday, and 17.00 hours from Friday through to 09.00 hours on Mondays. The service is extended to cover Bank Holidays, other public holidays and days on which mainstream services are not operational.
Respond to statutory requests under the Mental Health Act (MHA), 1983; to take other necessary statutory or other action in relation to the liberty or safety of service users, including in emergency situations, liaising with other agencies as necessary.
Arrange and co-ordinate the process of assessments under the Mental Health Act, 1983; adhering to legislative requirements and Codes of Practice, including applying to a court for warrant to enter specific premises and remove a patient if necessary to a hospital or other place of safety to allow for the assessment to take place; applications for detention in hospital or for guardianship and arranging for supplementary specialist assessments when necessary.
Summarising assessments in a statement of needs, determining user’s priority for services and sharing this with them.
Maintaining essential records and providing reports for reviews and other purposes as required e.g. Court of protection, Guardianship.
Attend court when required and act as a representative for the local authority in court proceedings, statutory panels and with other agencies.
