Seven Social Care is looking for a number of Children and Family Support Worker to fill an exclusive opportunity specialising in the wellbeing of children across Hampshire paying £22 per hour.

The role:

This role is a great opportunity to join Hampshire County Council if you have experience of working with children and families. You will be based in the busy Children’s Reception Team processing referrals in respect of vulnerable children and young people. As a confident communicator, you will work collaboratively with families and a wide range of professionals in order to improve the outcomes for children and families.

You will have a good knowledge and understanding of safeguarding children and young people and be able to identify risks that impact on their well-being and safety. Experience of working with children, young people and families in a safeguarding environment would be an advantage. Good verbal and written communication skills are desirable as is the ability to engage with children, families and professionals. Literacy, numeracy and I.T. skills are essential part of the role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertaking a range of relevant tasks and responsibilities as prioritised and deemed to be appropriate by the Team Manager, to support teams in fulfilling their duties.
  • Working in partnership with children, parents, carers and professionals.
  • Using mediation and negotiation skills to support young people and their parents/carers in improving their relationships.
  • Make sound recommendations based on the referral information received in line with the Hampshire Safeguarding Children Board and Children’s Trust Thresholds Chart and confidently identify the risks and strengths.
  • Experience of working in a busy, fast paced environment with changing priorities

Applicant Requirements:

  • GCSE in English and Maths, or equivalent.
  • Computer literate.
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of people, in a wide range of situations and build effective working relationships.
  • Capability to work flexibly in an inclusive and non-discriminatory manner.
  • Mediation skills.
  • Ability to present information both verbally and in writing and construct coherent reports.
  • Ability to liaise effectively with other professionals and organisations.
  • Experience of working with children, young people and families in a helping or caring capacity.
  • Experience of providing services to children and/or families with complex needs.
  • I.T. skills
