Community Reablement Worker

  • Ampthill, Bedfordshire, England
  • Temporary / Full Time
  • Sam Boggis
  • £11.51 - £11.51

Seven Social Care are looking for 5 temporary Community Reablement Workers to work with Central Bedfordshire Council. Candidates must be in a position to work full-time (37 hours per week) over a 7 day rota. 5 positions are based with the North Team (covering Ampthill and Biggleswade). The hourly rate on offer is £11.51 (paid to you via an umbrella company).

The role:

The reablement service supports people to return to their homes following a stay in hospital when they might otherwise be unable to. As a Community Reablement Worker, you will work in partnership with people in their own homes to help them regain their independence in carrying out those essential day to day tasks that they may now struggle with. Your commitment will help them regain their confidence and independence following a plan tailored to their specific individual needs to help them relearn skills that have been identified as important to their quality of life.

You might be helping them get up in the morning and make their first cup of tea of the day and then later supporting them to regain cooking skills or administering their medication. You’re not doing tasks for them; you’re helping them to do things for themselves once again.

Experience and qualifications are always desirable, but for this role your personal values and attitude are most important. Helping people will come naturally to you and you will find reward in supporting people to regain their independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reablement helps people over the age of 18 to regain their independent living skills. They may have lost these skills due to poor health, disability, impairment or an accident. It’s about helping people to find new ways of doing things.
  • Reablement Support Workers provide ‘hands-on’ personal care to service users. They must be able to carry out physical care tasks. Manual handling experienced is preferred, but training will be given.
  • Reablement provides a temporary service and will be provided for up to a maximum of six weeks. The emphasis will be to encourage the individual ‘to do’ for themselves, not to ‘do to’ for them. Trained staff help people safely practice daily living skills in their own home. Reablement also facilitates safe and timely hospital discharges.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Experience and qualifications are always desirable, but for this role your personal values and attitude are most important. Helping people will come naturally to you and you will find reward in supporting people to regain their independence.
