Consultant Social Worker, Looked After Children Team

Stevenage, Hertfordshire

Up to £47,846

Hertfordshire County Council are looking for a committed and innovative Senior Practitioner or Consultant Social Worker who has strong leadership skills to join their Looked After Children Team. This is an exciting opportunity to shape children’s social work by working closely with management while still remaining hands on.

About the role:

      The Looked After Children teams provide social work services to children aged 18 and under who are looked after by Hertfordshire Children’s Services.

There are 6 Looked After Children Teams in Hertfordshire based in Apsley and Stevenage and are made up of Social Workers; Children’s Practitioners and Support Officers who work together to provide the best service possible to the children who are in care.

This role will include holding a small caseload of complex work while transitioning into a management position.

You will be a role model for good social work practice and use your experience to develop less experienced staff.

You will have passion for achieving better outcomes for vulnerable children and their families and this will be demonstrated through applying theory and research to frontline practice.

Requirements:

      You must hold a professional Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, Nursing or other relevant Qualification and be registered with a professional body.

Experience of working with looked after children and young people and care leavers

Ability to support stable relationships with carers, plan for appropriate placements, support young people to return to families, if/when appropriate and prepare young people for adulthood and independence

Previous Senior Experience

A driving license valid for use in the UK and use of a car for work purposes
