Devon County Council are looking for Customer Advisors to join their supportive and flexible team. 

As a customer adviser you would be the single point of contact for the public, Government officials, internal members of Devon County Council, other authorities and agencies. 

The main duties and responsibilities of the role would be:

  • Respond to enquirers in a timely and courteous way. To receive calls in a sensitive manner and awareness of confidentiality
  • To utilise own knowledge and use of ICT systems as a means of resolving the enquiry.
  • To provide contingency of civil emergency support and to provide information and advice accordingly
  • To meet, actively commit to and promote in a positive manner Devon County Councils customer service Standards when using communication media including telephone, email, SMS and textphone.
  • Handle calls for other colleagues and teams as demand requires
  • Engage with customers, provide them with update on the enquiries, capturing specific customer feedback and complaints in line with agreed corporate procedures and resolve where appropriate
  • Proactively promote relevant services, agencies and channels to callers to help meet Devon County Council targets e.g. on-line services, waste minimisation.
  • Contribute to the take on of new services, including retraining in ICT Systems and business processes at they occur
  • To promote County Council Services by attending various community events, both in and outside of standard working hours

The job is office based and 37 hours a week.
