Occupational Therapy Assistant

  • Bristol, Bristol, England
  • Temporary / Full Time
  • Sam Boggis
  • £12 - £14.59

Seven Social Care are looking for a temporary OT Assistant to work with the Home to Decide Team in South Gloucestershire. This position is initially for a period of 3 months and is paying £14.59 per hour (paid to you via an umbrella company).

The role:

You will help improve the quality of services provided to adults with care, working closely within a team of service coordinators, social workers, occupational therapists, commissioning officers, business support workers and rapid responders to ensure that agreed performance and quality standards are achieved across the team and that working practices meet statutory and local requirements that optimise outcomes for service users.

Key Responsibilities:

Assessments and reviews follow the promoting-independence approach adopted by the Department. Senior Practitioners within the team will allocate cases to the post holder, on the basis that they present as straightforward and/or occur frequently and are within the skill and experience of the post holder to undertake. The post holder will receive regular supervision from the senior practitioner and have access to advice and guidance from more senior staff on all case-work as required.

The post holder will be required to visit and interview service users and their families/carers, and undertake promoting independence assessments following the standard process. The post holder will also provide appropriate equipment, such as grab rails and bath aids and instruction on its safe use, and will monitor and review its suitability to meet service user needs. Where the needs of the disabled children and young adults are more complex, the post holder can seek advice from the senior practitioner and, where appropriate, the case will be supported by social work or occupational therapy colleagues within the team either through direct involvement or through the provision of guidance.

The post holder will work closely with community provision and other parties involved in supporting disabled children and young adults to monitor progress and agree changes to the plan where required.

The post holder will act as key contact for cases allocated from point of allocation until case closure.
