Seven Social Care are looking for a temporary Paediatric Occupational Therapist to work with Calderdale Council. This position is initially for a period of 3 months and is paying £29.90 per hour (paid to you via an umbrella company).

The role:

To assist in the implementation of the policies and procedures which enables Children’s Social Care to carry out its functions under the provision of the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act 1970, Children’s Act 1989 and other relevant legislation.

To carry out specific assessments for the provision of equipment and adaptations for disabled children.

To provide specialist advice to other members of the Disabled Children’s team.

Key Responsibilities:

      To assess the need for and arrange provisions of equipment and adaptations in the homes of disabled children.

To make recommendations to the Housing & Community Support Accessible Homes Agency on the most appropriate adaptations required to meet an individual child’s needs.

To carry out manual handling assessments and to instruct parents and carers on the use of manual handling equipment and techniques.

To provide an advisory service to other staff within Children & Young Peoples Services who work with children on all matters relating to the provision of equipment and adaptations for disabled children.

To advise OT store personnel on the range of equipment to be maintained for children.

To maintain appropriate records with regard to service user caseload.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Degree approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Experience: 2+ years working with children as a qualified OT in the UK.
  • Compliance: Up to date HCPC registration and DBS.
  • Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
  • Hours: 37.5 hours p/w.
