Seven Resourcing are looking for a temporary Principal Communications Officer to work with Norfolk County Council. This position is initially for a period of 6 months and is paying £18.50 per hour (paid to you via an umbrella company).

The role:

Working to a Communications Manager, the Principal Communications Officer delivers communication activity in support of the council’s main objectives. They are responsible for developing proactive promotional plans, creating or commissioning material in support of these plans and proactive and reactive media and reputational and crisis management work. They are also responsible for monitoring and evaluating the impact of this work.

In addition to working on campaigns in support of key council priorities, a Principal Communications Officer will carry out on campaigns in support of the council’s role in support of Norfolk the place or Norfolk the people.

Officers will provide practical advice and support in respect of communications on a day-to-day basis and foster good relationships with relevant officers and members across the council.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Under the guidance of the account manager, and working with senior members and officers:
  • To help deliver the council’s communications strategy to defend and promote the council’s reputation, increase awareness of council activities, or hit behavioural change targets, by working on a number of corporately-agreed communications priorities each year.
  • To take responsibility for delivery and measurement of specific, value for money campaigns, including associated proactive and reactive media work and crisis/emergency incident communications across all channels.
  • Develop costed and proactive campaigns and events in support of key council communications objectives.
  • Develop materials, both print and electronic in support of such plans.
  • To develop and manage systems for the collection, collation and dissemination of statistical data required by NCC for campaign design, evaluation and income generation purposes as necessary.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Degree level or appropriate professional qualification (NCTJ, CIPR, CIM).
  • Experience: 2+ years working within a similar role in the public sector.
  • Compliance: Proof of right to work in the UK.
  • Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
  • Hours: 37.5 hours p/w.
