Seven Social Care is looking for experienced Childrens Support Practitioners who have experience of working within a residential setting based in Lowestoft. The hourly rate is £12.85 via an umbrella company.
A Residential Childcare Worker in a Children’s Home provides day-to-day support for some of the most vulnerable children in the county. These can include children who have experienced trauma and display high level challenging behaviours. People considering this role must have strong relationship building skills and a lot of patience. Personal qualities can be just as important as qualifications. Working in residential childcare is necessarily child-focused. It involves getting to know new children and helping them begin to feel secure, then providing ongoing care and support to build their confidence and teach coping skills. It also involves liaising with health and education personnel in order to ensure that they get proper access to other services.
You will act in a key-worker role, be able to manage challenging behaviour and learn how to manage risk. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate resilience, flexibility and stamina. Good interpersonal skills are vital as interactions with a range of professionals, parents and colleagues will also be necessary.
- Qualifications: NVQ level 2 in health and social care
- Experience: 2+ years working with children as a either a Youth Worker, Family Support Worker, Residential Worker.
- Compliance: Up to date DBS.
- Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
- Hours: Flexible depending on your other non-work related commitments.
