Adult Learning Service Manager (Health, Wellbeing and Children’s Services)

Suffolk County Council is responsible for leading and commissioning an Ofsted rated ‘Good’ and significantly sized learning offer, accessed by nearly 5,000 adult residents across the county. Due to recent changes within the service infrastructure, the Council is now seeking to appoint two exceptional adult learning professionals to drive forward adult learning in Suffolk.
Reporting to the Head of Skills, this role will lead an ambitious and compelling strategic business plan for the Adult Learning service which supports and drives the council’s organisational strategy for inclusive economic growth. They will lead a financially sustainable, high quality service which delivers skills and lifelong learning in support of local businesses whilst also responding to local community learning needs. The Council is seeking an exceptional and talented leader with significant experience within the further education or adult learning sector. The post holder will have significant experience in the UK skills system and commercially challenging environments. They will have demonstrable experience in systems leadership, quality assurance and building powerful mutually beneficial external relationships. Using proven influencing and negotiating skills to proactively lead and deliver change.
The successful candidate will be required to participate in the interview process for the Deputy Adult Learning Service Manager appointment.
Candidates must be educated to a degree standard with a full teaching qualification in further education/adult learning. A current working knowledge of adult education and skills trends in the UK, with proven experience of translating this into local delivery is essential.
