Seven Social Care are looking for a temporary Support Worker to work 3 hours each Saturday for the next 6 months (approx). This role is based with a military camp in Salisbury. The hourly rate is negotiable depending on experience.

The role:

The “Outdoors Action” programme will run an outdoor action session based on “Forest Schools” principles weekly for a total of 12 weeks at each base.

The programme will run an initial 4 week programme rotating across each site followed by a 2 further 4 week rotating programmes.

The programme is focussed on children aged 6-13 and their parents (but especially targeted at fathers) and is based outdoors regardless of the weather and will involve them in variety of imaginative activities using equipment drawn from the natural environment. Each weekly session will last for approximately 2 hours and will be able to accommodate 20 children and their parent.

The aim of the programme is to encourage parents to take their children outdoors to play and to show them a variety of activities that can be carried out using natural materials at no cost. Taking children outdoors encourages and improves their resilience and mental well-being and takes them away from TV, Games Consoles and the draw of social media.

Key Responsibilities:

  • By focussing particularly but not exclusively) on fathers the scheme will encourage dads to feel confident in playing with their children by using the natural environment where they will feel more comfortable. Thus improving the relationship between parent and child.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: N/A.
  • Experience: 2+ years working as a Support Worker.
  • Compliance: Recent DBS check.
  • Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
  • Hours: Saturday AM only.
