Seven Resourcing are looking for a number of temporary Support Workers to work with the Suffolk Admission Avoidance Service in Ipswich, Suffolk. These positions are initially for a period of 3 months and are paying £9.50 per hour.

The role:

This is a CQC Transforming care service for adults with learning disabilities and/or autism who are presenting in crisis.

The service are a short stay admissions avoidance service for customers whose current presentation and symptoms, including behaviours of concern, have caused a breakdown in their current care setting. You will work on a rota basis. Shift patterns are 07:00 – 15:00 / 14:00 – 22:00 + waking night cover.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support clients / families or children and young people (as appropriate) to actively plan their own menus and provide specialist support on healthy eating to enable clients / families or children and young people (as appropriate) to make their own choices.
  • To teach or support clients / families or children and young people (as appropriate) in preparing and cooking meals.
  • To enable clients / families or children and young people (as appropriate) to enjoy a range of food and support them to buy their food from various places including markets/ supermarkets or specialist shops.
  • To work with clients / families or children and young people (as appropriate) to help them devise strategies to assist them with their budgeting and provide advice and guidance and sign post them to other relevant agencies if necessary.
  • To support clients / families or children and young people (as appropriate) with other life skills such as welfare benefits/ employment/ education/training/volunteering/apprenticeships where appropriate.
  • To enable clients / families or children and young people (as appropriate) to make their own appointments with other professionals and to work with them to enable them to make their own choices about the support they require.

Applicant Requirements:

  • Qualifications: NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care.
  • Experience: 2+ years working within a similar role.
  • Compliance: Current DBS and references covering the past 3 years.
  • Hours: 37.5 hours p/w.
